2023 RFSHOF INDUCTEES
Dat Nguyen
A 1994 RFHS Graduate, Dat was an All-State football player that went on to play for the Texas A&M Aggies. Nguyen was named the 1998 Big XII Defensive Player of the Year, Chuck Bednarik Award winner, Lombardi Award winner and Unanimous All American. He was drafted in 1999 by the Dallas Cowboys where he was named to the All-Rookie Team and a 2003 second team All-Pro. Nguyen’s legacy continues as he contributes time and effort to multiple non-profit organizations.
Dwayne Walls
A 1984 RFHS graduate, Walls was a prominent athlete of the 1980s showcasing exceptional talent and versatility. Walls was the 1980 Freshman of the Year in Football and was also named an All-State Running Back, and an All-South Texas Safety. Walls was an All State Track and Field Sprinter from 1981-1984 winning 4 District Championships and 2 Regional Championships for the Pirates. After high school, walls attended Baylor University where he played football for the Bears.
Cody Birk-Blackmon
A 2002 RFHS graduate, Cody holds three RFHS School records in track for long jump, 4x200, and 4x400 relays. She was also a two-time state finalist in 2001 and 2002. She continued her athletic journey at Oklahoma State University, where she excelled academically and athletically, earning accolades such as being a Big XII Academic First Team member and an NCAA Regional Qualifier in the long jump, solidifying her position as a standout in collegiate track and field.
Cliff Davis
Cliff signed with the Houston Astros, in 1962. In 1963, he pitched a no-hitter and made the All-Star team. Coaching success followed, at Rockport-Fulton Middle School where he coached football while also helping recruit players. Beyond coaching, Davis pursued various careers, from being elected to the South Texas Coaches Hall of Fame to engaging in roles like an independent shrimper, hunting and fishing guide, and DI basketball referee.
Jack & Jane Groseclose
The Grosecloses have been an integral part of our community for decades, offering steadfast and unwavering support to our Pirate athletes. Through rain and shine, wins and losses, they've been there, cheering passionately from the stands and embodying the true spirit of community sports support. Jack and Jane, in particular, have become legendary figures in our local sporting scene, their presence at games acting as a beacon of encouragement for both the players and fellow supporters.
